The Be Safe app enables the person with thoughts of suicide to create a safety plan that will help keep them safe should another suicidal crisis occur. It is a person driven app that empowers them to manage their thoughts/behaviours. The safety plan can be updated at any time. Phone contacts and Helplines can be called directly from the app. When they have completed their safety plan they can email it directly from the app to formal or informal supports of their choice.

The Be Calm app based on the CALM model (Connect-Ask-Listen-Monitor) seamlessly guides and helps you with hints and prompts to continue the conversation after you have asked R U OK if the person says they’re not travelling well and have been struggling.
To ensure it is used safely in the way it is intended, the Be Calm suicide intervention app is only available to participants who attend the CALM 1-day training course.

The Calm Care app suicide app is used when someone is in crisis and at a point where they need help. They can reach out via SMS or a phone call by having this app installed on their phone. It will give them immediate access to supports (formal or informal). Supports and Helplines can be called directly from the app. Pre-texted messages can be sent directly from the app without needing to type out a message or scroll through contacts. There are Pre-texted inspirational phrases to help them get through another day.

The list of contacts and supports can be updated at anytime.

When you install an app on Android 6.0 and up

When you download apps from the Play Store, some apps will ask for permission to use information before you install. When you download apps that are built for Android 6.0 and up, you can allow or deny permissions once you start using them. Tip: To find which version of Android your device uses, open your device’s ‘Settings’, then, tap ‘System’ then ‘About phone’ or ‘About tablet’.

  1. Open the Play Store appGoogle Play.
  2. Go to an app’s detail page. To review permissions before installing, scroll to “Developer” and tap Permission details.
  3. Tap Install.
    • Some apps will install right away. When you use an app, you can allow or deny individual permission requests before the app uses that type of data.
    • For other apps, Google Play shows you all of the permission groups an app will be able to access before you install. This information can help you decide whether you want to install the app.
